Artist Entrepreneurs Collaborate in Exhibition The Artist Initiative will shine a spotlight on a new breed of artist professionals, the future of South Florida’s emerging art scene. Ft. Lauderdale (October 10, 2006) --- Nerissa Street, CEO of The Artist Initiative, has brought together the diverse talents of five “Artist Entrepreneurs” for an exhibition at Gallery Six in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The opening night of the exhibition was Saturday, December 2nd, 2006 at 7:00 p.m., and  featured edibles and elixirs, live music, and the artwork of what Street describes as “the new standard” of artists in South Florida’s emerging art scene. The show, entitled Collabo: Emerging Visions of Artist Entrepreneurs, seeks to honor the spirit of a new breed of artist. These artists not only honor the principles of aesthetics by perfecting their craft, they adhere to the principles of business by intentionally promoting the financial side of art. Each artist has their own business that is propelled by their creative work. "It's time that talented artist entrepreneurs are honored for the contribution they make to their art and the economic impact they make in their community," says Street. "This is an idea whose time has come."  The Artist Initiative, founded by Street, is a member-based, global resource network that connects artists with the organizations that will support them in their journey to success. Each artist in the show was referred to Street because of their vision of professionalism in the South Florida arts community. The exhibition will display the work of visual artists Ed King,  Francesca LaLanne, Caiphus Moore, and Tonietta Walters.
